My new backlinks are all ads.
Every morning I check the new backlinks of my sites and competitors. 3 new backlinks! One of them: dapoxetine.cyou. What?
dapoxetine is a treatment for premature ejaculation
But that's not what they're selling here.
That .cyou domain (cheap) links to 3,000 random pages. The link to mine reads:
Best Pinterest Tool SiteToSocial.com to Grow Your Website Traffic Fully Automated
The link is meant for me to notice. They want me to buy their marketing tool.
Almost all domains lead to two companies

Spam: DataForSEO backlink spam score, 0–100. DR: free Ahrefs Domain Rating API with version=dr4, 7 November 2026.
Who's selling what
CVGorilla. All their sites use the same template: "Boost your Google rankings with Premium PBN & Link Building" and an "Order Backlinks Now" button to cvgorilla.com.
CVGorillaNo, I'm not gonna give them a backlink. Not even from DR0. sells:
- Guest posts from $30
- "High DA/DR Expired Domains" from $100
Orders go over a Telegram bot and WhatsApp. The domain is from June 2026. The site promises "100% Manual Work. No bots". That's a bold claim when your ads are 3,000-link pages.
SiteToSocial. A Pinterest automation tool "from just 3 dollars per month". dapoxetine.cyou, gameeffect.xyz and sylexsoftware.xyz were registered on 31 October within two seconds of each other. Five days later they linked to most of the sites I track.
Where the DR comes from
All domains I could look up are registered at Namecheap with WHOIS privacy, between May and October 2026. Most have DR 0. A few don't. uncledspizza.com (DR 26) was a wood-fired pizza place in Washington. m98ufa.com (DR 53) was a Thai betting site until late 2025 and that DR is still there.
Is the internet an ad?
What are we even doing here?
Call me naive but a few months ago I believed the "honest reviews" and "10 Best Photo Enhancers in 2026". Now I wonder: What's the point of scrolling past "Sponsored results" if all the other stuff on Google's page 1 is also paid for? Pushed by paid blog posts and expired DR50 domains. The more I dig into SEO the more disillusioned I get.
Every day 10 new young and trash domains pop up with a link to my websites. That says a lot. There's an entire industry just waiting for me to check my backlinks and lure me into buying their services. They build entire Private Blog Networks (PBN) to manipulate SEO rankings.
Founders are desperate for visibility on the web. I get that. Especially now with AI coding agents anyone can quickly turn an idea into reality. "Building" a SaaS tool is the easy part. The real moat is attention. But it's not like getting seen is hard and honest work, cold outreach, convincing blog authors to mention your awesome product. No. It's just expensive. Visibility is just another expense.
This is not a big surprise to the SEO popes on Twitter, but: The internet seems to be just a big ad.
That's a painful realization.
